9mm vs .45 ACP vs .40 S&W
The most common pistol calibre debate is 9mm vs .45 ACP vs .40 S&W. 9mm is the sweet spot for most shooters: high capacity, low recoil, fast follow-up shots and cheaper practice. .45 ACP hits harder with a bigger, heavier bullet, while .40 S&W splits the difference with more recoil than 9mm and less capacity.

What calibre is 9mm?
9mm — properly 9×19mm Parabellum — means a bullet roughly 9 mm across seated in a case 19 mm long. In practice the bullet measures .355 in (9.01 mm) and the case 19.15 mm. It is classed as a pistol cartridge: compact, fast-shooting and effective at pistol engagement distances.
It was designed by Georg Luger in 1901 and adopted by the German Navy in 1904, then by armies and police forces worldwide. Today it is the standard NATO pistol cartridge and the most popular civilian handgun round on earth.
Is 9mm the same as .380 ACP or 9mm Makarov?
No. .380 ACP (9×17mm Kurz) is shorter and less powerful, and 9mm Makarov (9×18mm) uses a slightly different bullet. All three are 9 mm calibre but the cases are not interchangeable. Never load the wrong one into your pistol.

How does it feel to shoot?
Recoil is a short, manageable snap — far softer than .45 ACP or .40 S&W, which is exactly why beginners shoot it well and experienced shooters shoot it fast. You can keep the red dot on target for rapid double and triple taps.
Because muzzle energy is moderate, 9mm is effective to about 50 m from a pistol. Our pistol line runs close-range drills, steel plates and precision targets.
Where can you shoot 9mm as a visitor?
At Poland Shooting Center, 45 minutes from Wroclaw Airport, you can fire live 9mm from a Glock 17 without a firearms licence, without paperwork and without owning anything. We supply the pistol, the ammunition, the eye and ear protection and an English-speaking ex-military instructor.
Ammunition is 3,50 PLN per round with instructor and pistol rental included. Most visitors book the full pistol shooting class for a structured day on the pistol line, or add 9mm to a combined pistol and rifle session.

Yes. Under Polish law you may shoot at a licensed range under the supervision of an authorised instructor without holding any permit. Bring your ID, we supply everything else.
